I'm Engaged!

Guess what everyone? I'm engaged!!!! Yes it is true, if you havent already heard from the grapevine Emily is no longer my girlfriend she is my fiancee. The date we have picked is December 19th 2006. I am very excited and can't wait until the big day. This summer we will be making plans and working here in Durango CO. I have been given the oppertunity to work at First Baptist here in Durango as the music intern. I will be playing music for youth and for church, studying the Bible abd preparing multiple Bible studys. I am extremely excited that I will be doing what I love and being paid for it. Emily is going to be working at the daycare of a school, playing with all the little babies. As a matter of fact we are both looking after a baby right now. Not ours of course, but the program director of athletic trainings' baby. He is a cute little boy, when he is not fussy. Prayers for our wedding and future would be much appreciated. God has blessed us both beyond anything we could have hoped for. And I hope you are all waiting on and trusting in Him as we have been.
Wait patiently for the Lord.
Be brave and courageous,
Yes, wait patienly for the Lord.

God is Working

Hey y'all! I know that once again it has been a pretty long time since i typed in my blog. But at least it hasn't been almost a year like last time. Well i hope all of you are doing well and fighting the good fight out in the world where God has you. God still has me here in Durango CO. My gilrfriend Emily and I are doing well we have now been dating for 11 months which has been such a blessing. I have taken the semester off from the athletic training program, so i have had more time to work for Christ in other areas. I am still taking classes so i did'nt drop out or anything. Also this semester i am working with the youth at the First Baptist church. If anyone reads this please just say a little quick prayer for me becasue i am giving a talk a talk on worship for the college ministry get together on Friday. I have to go but i will write more later, maybe. Just want to encourage you all before i go.
17And since we are his children, we will share his treasures--for everything God gives to his Son, Christ, is ours, too. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.

Wow it has been a while

So it has been quite a long time since the last time that i wrote in my blog. I hope all of you out there are doing well. I have been good and busy since the last time i wrote. That last summer Brad Hixon came down to Las Vegas and stayed with me and my family and worked consruction with me and my Father. That was great fellowship and a ton of hard work. Last semester waS crazy hard for me. I am in the Athletic Training Program here at Fort Lewis College and it requires much out of me. I was in there probably most of my day everyweek, and even on weekends. Also I had a full class load of hard classes for my major. This semester i have decided to take time off from the Athletic Training Room. I was no longer enjoying it and I was given the oppertunity to work with the high school youth at First Baptist Durango, where i go to church. It has been fun anf Emily is also helping there. Emily and I have been doing well. We are growing closer together and closer to God. It has'nt always been easy but God has helped us through the relationship and I could not be happier. I am leading the musical worship for the campus ministry and i get to lead music for the high school youth group as well. God has been working wonders in my life and I know that he will continue to do so. I miss you all.

Spring Break

Wow is has been a while since I have posted anything. Well I will start from spring break. I went to South Pardre Island, Texas for spring break with Master Plan Ministries. It was a 24-26 hour drive one way so there was a ton of time to get to know eachother pretty well in a crammed 15 passenger van. There were 25 of us I believe, and we just took the gospel straight to the beach where all the college students were partying and breathing in what the world has to offer them. We went to out to the beach 3 of the days we were there and set up a volleyball net and brought frisbees for conversation starters. Then we would also go out in groups of 2 and just get into conversations with the kids and try to share the Gospel with them. I was defiantly an interesting experience but God is amazing and the growth that I experienced was life changing. We also went into Mexico for 3 of the days. We had 1500 Spanish new testament Bibles to hand out and it was amazing as well. I don't know how to speak Spanish very well but that did not stop God from getting his word to people. With the little Spanish that I knew I got into some good conversations with people and many people accepted Christ into their lives. I also took some soccer balls with me into Mexico and handed them out to little kids and shared the gospel with them as well. That was so much fun. I got to play with some of the kids and that is a language that I understand completely. Even though there is a language barrier with the Spanish speaking people it was easier to share with them because that are more relationship oriented people where the college students think that life is all about them. Well God work and brought many people to Him that week and I believe that there were many seeds planted as well. God is so GOOD!

Guess What?

I did laundry yesterday for the first time since I have been back to school from Christmas break! I know you guys are all proud of me, but like I said before, I have so many clothes that I don't see the point in doing laundry every week, and besides it saves money on detergent. Also, Josef please forgive me, I shaved my beard off tonight. It was pretty big, the biggest I have ever had it so I took a few pictures of it before I shaved. The reason I shaved is because I will be leaving this Thursday for South Padre, Texas on a mission trip with Master Plan for spring break. The weather is showing the highs to be in the 90s. I am stoked.

Practical Application

I have been reading through Corinthians lately and I would just like you share with everyone what I am learning so far. I am in chapter 11 right now, but in chapter 10 there were some amazing verses that stuck out to me.

All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful, but not all things edify. -1 Cor. 10:23 (NASB)

Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. -1 Cor 10:31 (NASB)

These two verses have been in my mind lately. In my daily life I have found myself time and time again tolerating and doing things that are neither profitable nor edifying toward anyone. 10:23 has helped open my eyes to see how Satan has been working in my life without my knowledge.
10:31 plainly states that whatever we do, we should do for the honor and glory of God. When we decide to live a life that is more glorifying to God, we will begin to accomplish that which is profitable and edifying toward others. Tony B posed the question (and Cosby has expanded on the question) of ,"what if we started to live the scriptures?". I believe that these two verses in Corinthians are that start of an practically explanation of how it can be possible to live as if the scriptures were written directly to us today. Be imitators of Christ.
What if ?...
